After you make contact with a new connection either from a contact from mutual past employer or a warm connection from someone you know, it’s time for the informational interview. Master your Informational Interviews to increase your contacts at your target companies. Here is the formula for your informational interviews.
R-A-I-R = build a Rapport – ask for Advice – ask for Information – ask for Referrals
Remember you are not asking for a job. You are engaging in active listening to be sure you can identify ways you can give back to your new connection. Also, this isn’t a one touch and you are done with this new contact. Nurture the relationship and grow your contacts. It’s networking at its best.
Job-seekers know the stat: 70% of jobs are filled through networking.

Failure Is Not an Option! Grow your network and work your network.
