Hey guys, needing some fast feedback. How do you code reported production issues? Investigation? Defect?
If it turns out to be nothing like no action taken, user error etc, then what does the issue type become?

Hi Tara – great question!
Answer – It depends.
There is no “correct” answer – it depends on the working agreement with your team, and the shared understanding of work item types and states as they go through your process flow.
However, here’s a couple recommendations from my over a decade of leading teams.
Generally production issues are defects. It will go thru the “investigation’ due diligence to understand and replicate issue.
It’s NOT necessary to change the issue “type” once selected – the “states/status” can be updated from ‘request received’ all the way thru ‘closed’
The issue type does not change – however the state/status does.
Does that help?
